Minecraft Dungeons has been updated to add support for 4K at 120 FPS on the Xbox Series X and 1440p at 60 FPS on Xbox Series S.
As a part of the latest Flames of the Nether update, Mojang has added support for Xbox Series X and S in the patch. As a result, the game now runs at a higher resolution and frame rate on the new generation Xbox consoles.
To refresh your memory, Minecraft Dungeons did support Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, but it wasn’t native 4K on these consoles. On the Xbox One X, the game targeted native 4K at 60 FPS while on the PS4 Pro, it managed to hit 1350p at 60 FPS. This should apply to the PS5 version, but possibly at a higher resolution now since this was a dynamic resolution that should stick to native 4K unless there is a limit placed by the developers.
In the case of the Xbox Series X now, the game runs at 4K at 120 FPS if you the hardware to support it, and if you own an Xbox Series S which was limited to 30 FPS, then you can enjoy smooth 1440p at 60 FPS after the new update.
Xbox Series X|S Enhanced
- Minecraft Dungeons is now optimized for Xbox Series X|S consoles!
- Xbox Series X supports up to 4K resolution and 120 FPS
- Xbox Series S supports up to 1440p resolution and 60 FPS
- These resolutions and frame rates are variable, and will lower while playing four player local co-op
This is in addition to the various new features that are added for free on all platforms, and the launch of a new DLC called Flames of the Nether that can be purchased from the platform-specific storefronts on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo.
