The Nintendo eShop listing confirms that Minecraft will launch on Switch 2 on October 27, with the standard digital edition priced at $29.99 for players who don’t qualify for the free upgrade. Existing owners can claim the Switch 2 version at no additional cost during the promotional period.

Players can also pre-order the Deluxe Collection or Ultimate Collection at a discounted price if they already own the digital Nintendo Switch version.

The Switch 2 version adds support for Minecraft’s Vibrant Visuals graphics upgrade, which introduces enhanced lighting, shadows, reflections and other visual improvements. Vibrant Visuals will also be available for supported Marketplace content.

Players can carry their existing Nintendo Switch worlds over to the Switch 2 version, allowing them to continue their existing saves on the new hardware. The release also includes the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack, featuring a Mario-themed world, 15 music tracks and 40 character skins.

Minecraft continues to support cross-platform multiplayer, while Switch 2 players can also use split-screen multiplayer. Online multiplayer requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership and a Microsoft Account for cross-platform play.

The Nintendo eShop lists the game’s estimated file size at 1.2 GB. The free upgrade offer for existing digital Nintendo Switch owners is available through January 31, 2027.
