Capcom’s action role-playing game, Monster Hunter Wilds, may be headed to the Nintendo Switch 2, as per a new rumor.

According to a new datamine (via STRCoolerSimp and Lener30 on Reddit) of Monster Hunter Wilds game files, the game may be set for release on the Nintendo Switch 2 in the near future. The game’s data contains lines of code containing a configuration key for a settings block related to an “NSW2 upgrade edition.”

  • “via.store.Native.nsw2UpgradeEdition”: { “ApplicationAndUpgradeSet”: 0, “UpgradeOnly”: 1 }
  • “ProcessCullingData_NSW2”: { “app.user_data.NpcProcessCullingData”: { “userdataPath”: “GameDesign/NPC/CommonData/Culling/NpcProcessCullingData_NSW2.user” } }
  • “via.render.DLSSUpscalingInterface.NSW2DLSSPreset”: { “Default”: 0, “PresetD”: 4, “PresetE”: 5, “PresetF”: 6, “PresetH”: 8, “PresetI”: 9 }

As seem above, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Monster Hunter Wilds appears to have its own DLSS presets D-I, rather than presets A-C. Additionally, the Switch 2 version seems to cull NPCs slightly differently, as the distance it triggers at appears to have been cut in half. It also seems to always cull for most NPCs.

Furthermore, details regarding the online lobby for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Monster Hunter Wilds indicate that it features local multiplayer by having up to 4 consoles connect locally.

  • Local Communication: Create and join lobbies that use local communication for playing together with multiple Nintendo Switch 2 consoles.
  • Create Lobby: Create a lobby using local communication. Up to 4 people with their Nintendo Switch 2 consoles in proximity can join a lobby.
  • Create Lobby (with passcode): Create a passcode-protected lobby using local communication. Up to 4 people with their Nintendo Switch 2 consoles in proximity can join a lobby.
  • Lobby Search: Search for lobbies that use local communication. Up to 4 people with their Nintendo Switch 2 consoles in proximity can join a lobby.
