Monster Hunter Wilds Is Reportedly Running At 30 FPS On PS5 & Xbox Series X|S

Capcom’s upcoming action role-playing game, Monster Hunter Wilds, runs at a frame rate of 30 fps on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, based on the latest report.

Content creator MH_Canta took to Twitter/X to share that they had their first hands-on session with Monster Hunter Wilds at an event held by Capcom. They shared their general impressions as well as  details regarding the game’s performance on consoles. They mentioned that they couldn’t do some in-depth testings due to time constraints, so some of their information may be a little inaccurate.

The content creator revealed that the console versions didn’t run at 60 fps. It seemed like a stable 30 fps to them. While they only had the opportunity to try the PS5 version of Monster Hunter Wilds, it’s safe to assume that the Xbox Series X|S version will also target the same frame rate.

As for general impressions, they tested hammer and charge blade first. Hammer was pretty straight forward. It appears that Capcom has removed the power charge or perhaps they just didn’t find it. Pressing the O (Circle) button on the DualSense controller while charging now lets you dash and maintain charge level instead. Once you have fully charged the hammer, you can do an extra charge for a powered up superpound that is reminiscent of Monster Hunter Generations Unlimited’s spinning meteor.

The content creator mentioned that it doesn’t seem possible to do Super Amped Elemental Discharge (SAED) from a stationary position in Monster Hunter Wilds, and that it can only be done after Amped Elemental Discharge (AED). Though, they added that they may have missed other ways to do SAED.

Furthermore, they stated that some attacks don’t seem to consume an entire phial, only a part of it. Additionally, Savage Axe/Pizza cutter seems to be limited to focus mode attack only, and they were unable to find a way to activate or use it outside of that scenario during their hands-on session. Lastly, the content creator shared that Monster Hunter Wilds features mounting and skippable cutscenes.
