Sales of Monster Hunter Wilds fell short of Capcom’s expectations, while those of Devil May Cry titles saw an increase through the new animated series.
During a Q&A session on the occasion of its first quarter consolidated financial results conference call for the Fiscal Year ending March 31, 2026, Capcom was asked whether soft sales of Monster Hunter Wilds were offset by sales of catalog titles from series such Devil May Cry and Resident Evil within the company’s Digital Contents business. In response, the company confirmed that this is indeed the case.

According to Capcom, sales of Monster Hunter Wilds during the first quarter fell short of its initial expectations. On the other hand, sales for the Devil May Cry series increased due to promotions tied to the release of a new animated series, while sales for the Resident Evil series increased due to promotions carried out in conjunction with the release date announcement for the latest title in the series, Resident Evil Requiem.
On whether there’s a correlation between the increase in sales of the Devil May Cry titles and the release of the new anime, Capcom noted that catalog title sales for the series have been growing over the long term. The new animated series, released on Netflix in April, 2025, was well received, with viewership for it ranking high on the service. According to the company, unit sales for the games increased in each region globally thanks to discounts offered in conjunction with the release of the anime. Capcom’s management believes that this promotion successfully stimulated demand among existing Devil May Cry fans while attracting interest from those new to the series.
Regarding the possibility of this increase in unit sales for the Devil May Cry series continuing in the second quarter and beyond, Capcom expects to see a slowdown in sales for the series during the second quarter and beyond.
