More Shin Megami Tensei Games Could Be Heading To Xbox Consoles

More games in the Shin Megami Tensei series could be on their way to Xbox consoles, according to the latest rumor.

During the latest episode of The XboxEra Podcast, host Shpeshal Nick mentioned that more Shin Megami Tensei titles may be headed to Xbox consoles in the future. According to him, Microsoft is looking to collaborate with Atlus to bring more Shin Megami Tensei games to Xbox consoles, just as it did previously in the case of Persona titles.

The Shin Megami Tensei titles specifically named by Nick are Shin Megami Tensei 3, 4, and 5. According to him, having these games ported to Xbox is a “pretty big” deal for the software giant, much like Persona was as well.

Currently, Shin Megami Tensei 3 is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC, while Shin Megami Tensei 4 is available on the Nintendo 3DS, and Shin Megami Tensei 5 is available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.

The latest entry in the Shin Megami Tensei series, Shin Megami Tensei 5, is a 2021 role-playing video game developed and published by Atlus. Produced by Shin Megami Tensei IV director Kazuyuki Yamai, it was designed as a cross between Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne and Shin Megami Tensei IV, featuring returning gameplay mechanics such as raising and fusing demons. The game had sold over a million copies as of April 2022.

In Shin Megami Tensei 5, a mysterious earthquake transports the main character, a regular high school student, and his friends Yuzuru Atsuta and Ichiro Dazai to Da’at, an alternate post-apocalyptic Tokyo where angels and demons are engaged in a fierce battle. He soon encounters demons while moving through this world and is on the verge of death when a godlike being named Aogami intervenes to save him.

They fuse to form a Nahobino, a forbidden being that is more closely related to a deity than either a human or a demon. The main character travels through Da’at, engages in combat with Shohei Yakumo and Nuwa, a demon partner, and finds a terminal that transports him and his companions back to Tokyo.
