MultiVersus Datamine Suggests Injustice 3 May Be In Development

A new data mine of the soon to be discontinued free-to-play crossover fighting game, MultiVersus, suggests that Injustice 3 may be in development.

Known MultiVersus leaker multiversusie and data miner has hinted that Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios is currently working on a third entry in the DC superhero fighting game series, Injustice 3. The insider took to Twitter/X to share a cryptic message regarding the unfortunate discontinuation of Player First Games’ free-to-play crossover fighting game.

The leaker said, “multiversus shutting down is an injustice, then doing it all again is another injustice leaving me without any leaks is yet again another injustice.” In their short follow-up tweet, they stated the number “3”, implying that Injustice 3 is currently in the works. Though, their message suggests that they don’t have much details on the game at this point in time.

During an AMA session back in November, 2022, , creative director and team lead at NetherRealm, Ed Boon, had stated that the studio’s next project would be either of a new Mortal Kombat game and Injustice 3. Eventually, we learned that the development team went ahead with Mortal Kombat 1, which was released on September 19, 2023. Given that the intent to work on Injustice 3 was already there, it’s likely that it is indeed the studio’s next project. The recent release of the Definitive Edition for Mortal Kombat 1has signaled what appears to be the final phase of its active development.

We certainly hope a potential third entry in the Injustice series doesn’t share the same fate as publisher Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment’s other fighting game, MultiVersus. The latter will be delisted from all digital stores, and all online functionality will be discontinued on May 30, 2025. Thankfully, however, the game will remain playable offline. It was released on May 28, 2024, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S..
