Ninja Theory has officially announced Senua, a new action-adventure game set in the Hellblade universe and serving as the third installment in the acclaimed series.

The reveal took place during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, where the studio debuted the first trailer featuring in-game footage captured from an early pre-release build. Alongside the announcement, Ninja Theory confirmed that the game is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5. The title will also support Xbox Play Anywhere and launch through Xbox Game Pass.

According to the game’s official description, players will once again step into the role of Senua, who finds herself trapped between life and death within a fractured vision of purgatory.

“Announcing Senua, a new action-adventure set in the Hellblade universe. Senua, a Celtic warrior, is trapped between life and death in a fractured vision of purgatory. She must fight to reach the afterlife and reunite with those she loved and lost, battling forces that threaten everything she believes in,” Ninja Theory said.

While the trailer offered only an early glimpse of the experience, it suggests that the series will continue exploring themes of loss, grief, and psychological struggle that have defined the franchise since its debut.

The Hellblade series has earned widespread recognition for its portrayal of psychosis and mental health, developed with input from neuroscientists and mental health professionals. The games combine psychological storytelling with mythology-inspired settings, cinematic presentation, puzzle-solving, and intense combat encounters. The franchise has also become known for its use of binaural audio technology to recreate the auditory experiences associated with psychosis.

Ninja Theory has not announced a release date for Senua, but players can now wishlist the game ahead of its launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. More details are expected to be revealed as development progresses.
