Nintendo Considering Luigi’s Mansion Movie Pitch Following Mario Film Success, It’s Claimed

by Salal Awan

Nintendo may be looking to expand its growing film slate with a Luigi’s Mansion adaptation, according to a new claim from industry insider Shpeshal Nick. The report suggests the company is exploring the idea internally, though no official announcement has been made.

Shpeshal Nick stated, “The success of the Mario movies must be having quite the impact within Nintendo. A lot of stuff in the works from what I’m hearing, I can’t talk about it all just yet, but as an example, they’re looking at pitching a Luigi’s Mansion movie.”

The rumor follows the significant commercial performance of Nintendo’s recent animated films. The Super Mario Bros. Movie, released in 2023, earned more than $1.3 billion worldwide and established a strong foundation for the company’s film ambitions. Its follow-up, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, debuted in April 2026 and quickly became one of the biggest openings of the year, surpassing $370M globally in its initial run.

Luigi’s Mansion, known for its more atmospheric and comedic tone compared to mainline Mario titles, could offer a different direction if adapted for film. The series centers on Luigi exploring haunted locations and capturing ghosts, typically blending light horror elements with humor.

At this stage, there has been no confirmation from Nintendo regarding a Luigi’s Mansion movie, and the reported plans remain speculative.
