Koei Tecmo has announced that the Nioh 3 demo has surpassed one million downloads, signaling strong player interest ahead of the game’s full release. The milestone was shared by Koei Tecmo America through its official social media account.

In a post celebrating the achievement, the publisher stated, “The #Nioh3 demo has hit 1 million downloads! A big THANK YOU to everyone who has enjoyed the demo so far!” The message also reminded players that progress made in the demo will transfer to the full version of the game. “Demo save data can be carried over to the full game, so get ready for the launch of Nioh 3 this Friday, February 6!” Koei Tecmo added.

The demo in question is the final, time-limited public demo that launched on January 29, 2026. It provides players with an early look at the game’s new systems and structure, while also allowing progression to carry forward into the retail release.

Nioh 3 is a dark fantasy action role-playing game developed by Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo. It serves as the third mainline entry in the Nioh series and is set in 1622 during the Edo period. Players follow Tokugawa Takechiyo as he traverses multiple historical eras, including the Heian and Sengoku periods, to confront a supernatural threat referred to as the “Crucible.”

The game is built on the Katana Engine and introduces a notable shift in design compared to previous entries. Instead of the traditional mission-based structure, Nioh 3 adopts an “open-field” layout, offering broader exploration within its environments. Combat has also been expanded through a system that allows players to switch between Samurai and Ninja fighting styles during encounters, providing greater flexibility in how battles are approached.

Nioh 3 is scheduled for a global release on February 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. The PlayStation 5 version will be the only console release at launch, with a six-month console exclusivity period in place.
