by Salal Awan

One Piece Odyssey update 1.02 was released today bringing in some optimization improvements on PC and consoles as seen in patch notes.

While Bandai Namco has yet to share the full list of changes for this One Piece Odyssey update, datamining of the game files appears to suggest that they have tweaked various parameters of the game to optimize the overall performance.

Some of the ways the optimization has been done in the game include tweaks to the shadows so they are less aggressive with pop-in on lower quality settings and changes made to the lighting in certain areas. There might be some bug fixes implemented too and one of the issues that have been reported is the bleeding bug in One Piece Odyssey.

One Piece Odyssey Update 1.02 Patch Notes

  • Improved action stability.
  • Updated text information.
  • Improved other gameplay elements, etc.

As mentioned above, this small update with a download size under 500 MB is mainly aimed at improving the overall performance of the game. If you were having issues running it at a higher frame rate, that should be resolved now with the new update.

“One Piece Odyssey might not establish a new standard in the JRPG genre, but it is still an entertaining experience, especially if you are a fan of the franchise, ” writes Ali Haider in Twisted Voxel’s review.

“Pacing is a major issue in One Piece Odyssey because the game is primarily linear, with a lot of cutscenes alternated with battles and exploration segments. Although it is not an open-world JRPG, there are discrete regions that players may explore and are enjoyable to stroll around. There is also a lot of backtracking, which, when combined with turn-based combat, may make the game feel tedious.”

As the game was quite easy, some fans were hoping that this might be a balance update to adjust the difficulty settings, It doesn’t appear to be the case unless this is one of the hidden changes.
