Outriders has a demo that is available to play now on all platforms. This demo also gives a glimpse at the performance of the final game.
The demo is available for a limited time and can be downloaded from the respective digital store on either consoles or PC. We have covered Outriders resolution and frame rate before, but this is the first time there is a technical analysis that goes further to explain the difference between the two current-generation consoles.
According to our friends at VGTech, the game runs at a dynamic resolution on both PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. In the case of Series X, it runs at dynamic 4K while in the case of Series S, the resolution doesn’t appear to run higher than 1440p.
Here is what VGTech had to say regarding the resolution and frame rate of Outriders on both platforms.
Xbox Series X uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being approximately 3456×1944 and the lowest native resolution found being approximately 2261×1272. On Xbox Series X a form of temporal reconstruction is used to increase the resolution up to 3840×2160.
Xbox Series S uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being approximately 2304×1296 and the lowest native resolution found being approximately 1536×864. On Xbox Series S a form of temporal reconstruction is used to increase the resolution up to 3840×2160.
PS5 uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being approximately 3008×1692 and the lowest native resolution found being approximately 2112×1188. On PS5 a form of temporal reconstruction is used to increase the resolution up to 3840×2160.
In the case of Series S, the game appears to mostly render below 1080p but with a 60 FPS frame rate. In the case of the PS5, it doesn’t really manage to hit 4K resolution but stays between 1800p and 1200p.
The lower resolution on PS5 helps it maintain a better performance than the Xbox Series X. On the PS5, the minimum frame rate is 56 FPS while the game mostly averages at 60 FPS. On the Xbox Series X, the performance is rather unstable and the frame rate can drop as low as 51 FPS with an average of 57 FPS.
Of course, this is just an early build and a demo so there is a good chance that the performance will improve by the time the game launches later in April.
