Epic Games has confirmed that the Peacemaker emote will make its return to Fortnite on October 9, though it will feature significant adjustments to its choreography. Players who find themselves dissatisfied with the updated version will have the option to refund the emote without using a ticket.
The emote, originally known as Peaceful Hips, had been temporarily disabled after concerns surfaced about its resemblance to a controversial symbol. Modeled after John Cena’s dance sequence from the Season 2 intro of DC’s Peacemaker, the animation drew scrutiny when fans speculated that certain camera angles could unintentionally evoke a swastika. In response, Epic Games removed the emote from the game while investigating the issue with Warner Bros. Games.
In a statement shared on social media, Epic clarified that there was no creative intent to link the emote with the ongoing storyline of the Peacemaker series. The company stated, “We’ve worked closely with our partners at Warner Bros. Games to confirm there were no creative intentions to connect the Peaceful Hips Emote and the current Peacemaker storyline. To avoid any confusion, we’re modifying the Emote choreography in next week’s update. If they prefer, players can return the Emote without using a ticket.”
While Epic has not detailed the exact changes, speculation suggests that the new animations may borrow from the Season 1 dance routine, which carried no such controversy. This approach would allow the emote to retain its thematic connection to the character while removing any risk of unintended symbolism.
The revised Peacemaker emote will be available in Fortnite starting October 9. Players who wish to keep it can enjoy the updated animations, while those unhappy with the adjustments will be able to request a refund at no cost.
