When asked why his studio won’t release its upcoming action game, Phantom Blade Zero, on Xbox, he responded by saying, “no one needs this platform.” According to the developer, the console is not popular in Asia, and Microsoft has created a very overloaded ecosystem, making game development difficult.

The source also mentioned that journalists at the ChinaJoy exhibition spoke with representatives from Game Science and S-GAME studios about the matter of PS5 exclusivity. According to the developers, they are closely collaborating with PlayStation’s gaming division. They said that Sony provides extensive support in promoting games both in China as well as internationally. In a sense, Sony acts as the publisher for Black Myth: Wukong and Phantom Blade Zero. However, this collaboration does not impose any obligations on the studios. The developers independently decide which platforms to release their games on, and, as per them, the current most promising platforms are PC and PS5.

In related news, it was previously revealed during an interview with a Chinese content creator that Phantom Blade Zero’s main story is around 20-30 hours, with multiple endings based on the player’s progress. According to the developer, there’s plenty of exploration, challenges, and collection content, with significant depth in the combat system. S-GAME was also asked to share how much it has invested in Phantom Blade Zero thus far. In response, the developer stated that it has spent 200 million Chinese Yuan on development so far.
