PlayStation Had An Unofficial Gran Turismo 7 Port Running on Nintendo Switch 2, It Is Claimed

by Muhammad Ali Bari

Sony Interactive Entertainment/PlayStation had an unofficial Gran Turismo 7 port running on the Nintendo Switch 2, according to a new rumor.

During the latest episode of the Game Mess Decides podcast, co-host and known insider Jeff Grubb discussed Sony Interactive Entertainment’s overall platform strategy and the continued absence of several major PlayStation titles on PC. While speculating about why certain PlayStation exclusives, such as Bloodborne and Demon’s Souls, remain unavailable on PC, he briefly mentioned that the console maker has been experimenting with an unofficial port of Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 7 for the Nintendo Switch 2. “Gran Turismo is a weird one,” he said. “Like I heard recently that Gran Turismo was running on the Switch 2. I don’t think it’s going to come to the Switch 2, but I heard it was running on the Switch 2.”

However, Grubb did not claim that Sony Interactive Entertainment and Polyphony Digital plan to release the game on Nintendo’s console. “I don’t think it’s going to come to the Switch 2.” The idea that a build of Gran Turismo 7 was running on the platform is intriguing to say the least. That said, it’s technically not surprising, given that the game already runs on the PS4, a console that is close in performance to the Nintendo Switch 2.

Grubb further questioned Sony’s platform strategy, arguing that if Sony was even considering (or at least testing) the game on Nintendo Switch 2, a PC release would seem like a logical step.  “Just put it on PC then. Like, if you’re considering Switch 2, obviously PC must be a no-brainer. Still not on the PC. Weird.”.

Back in January, 2025, the admin of gaming enthusiast forum IconEra claimed to have been informed that PC ports of the Demon’s Souls remake and Gran Turismo 7 were no longer in development at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Read about it here.
