Sony Interactive Entertainment is planning major PlayStation announcements, and possibly has an event in the works, based on a new rumor.
According to Dealabs, Sony Interactive Entertainment is preparing to announce the launch of brand new PlayStation 5 accessories . These already existing accessories, including the DualSense controller, Pulse Elite headset, Pulse Explorer earbuds, are set to be offered in a brand new color. Furthermore, Dealab’s private investigator, billbil_kun, took to Twitter/X to share that this is only the first of “many”PlayStation announcements that are being planned behind the scenes by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Dealabs does not yet know when these accessories will be announced and released. However, it believes that they should be announced within a month .In terms of pricing, these new accessories will retail for exactly the same price as their original counterparts . As such So, the new DualSense Edge Wireless Controller Black will retail for €239.99 / GBP209.99 / USD199.99, the new Pulse Elite Wireless Headphones will retail for €149.99 / GBP 129.99 / USD 149.99, and the new Pulse Explore Wireless Earbuds will retail for €219.99 / GBP 199.99 / USD 199.99.
As for when this and other “major” PlayStation announcements may be made, it was previously reported that the new Play Has No Limits commercial from Sony Interactive Entertainment featured a noticeboard that displayed the numbers “03 12 20:24”, hinting that a PlayStation Showcase event may happen on Tuesday, December 03, 2024. The aforementioned date happens to be the date for PlayStation’s anniversary. While the commercial may just have included the date as a nod to the brand’s 30th anniversary, it’s worth mentioning that there was a State of Play in December, 2019 to honor PlayStation’s 25th anniversary. Therefore, it’s possible that Sony Interactive Entertainment may be looking to do something similar a decade later.
Back in May, insider Tom Henderson had hinted at Sony Interactive Entertainment’s plans to host a PlayStation Showcase towards the end of the year. Furthermore, according to Reset Era member shinobi602, who is known for his contacts within the game industry, Sony Interactive Entertainment has multiple major titles from PlayStation first party studios in development that are set for release next year in 2025.
