Gameplay footage from Insomniac Games’ upcoming action-adventure game, Marvel’s Wolverine, has yet to be officially revealed, though playtesters are reportedly pleased with its progress.
During a recent episode of the Insider Gaming podcast, industry insider Tom Henderson shared encouraging updates on Marvel’s Wolverine, including insights from playtesters who have reportedly come away impressed with the game’s current state.

According to Henderson, the next trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine has already been prepared by Insomniac Games. While the exact reveal schedule is unconfirmed, he believes it will happen during an upcoming State of Play presentation later this month. If the trailer does not appear there, it may be shown during The Game Awards 2025 later this year in December. Henderson stated that the timing of such reveals often coincides with when trailers are finalized, which strengthens the likelihood of a more immediate showcase.
The development timeline of Marvel’s Wolverine has faced some setbacks, mostly due to the ransomware attack that struck Insomniac Games in late 2023. The breach not only leaked sensitive details about the project but also personal information of employees, causing emotional and logistical challenges for the studio. Henderson said that the fallout from the attack contributed to delays, though work on the game has continued steadily.
Despite these hurdles, the latest reports from playtesters are positive. Henderson noted that individuals who have tried the recent build of Marvel’s Wolverine describe the game as “fantastic”. While a concrete release date has not yet been announced, Henderson believes that Sony may opt to only provide a release window of 2026 for now.
Back in December, 2023, after the ransomware attack that hit Insomniac Games, hackers gained access to a playable PC developmental build of Marvel’s Wolverine, which was then made available to the public. Additionally, alleged story and casting details for the game were also leaked. Read about it here.
