Prototype Fans Disappointed as Rumors of New Game Are Debunked

by Salal Awan

Recent speculation surrounding a potential revival of the Prototype franchise has been addressed by Windows Central editor Jez Corden, who says there is no new entry currently in development.

Speaking on the Xbox Two Podcast, Corden stated plainly, “There is no prototype game in development, what so ever, as of right now.” He added that while the series could return at some point, “maybe someday […] the best you can hope for is some like, backward compatible game. There is no new prototype game in development.”

His comments come amid renewed discussion around the franchise following changes at Radical Entertainment, which has rebranded as New Radical Games. The studio’s updated website prominently features Prototype alongside The Simpsons Hit and Run, leading to speculation that remasters or new projects could be in the works.

Additional rumors have been fueled by past findings from a datamined update to the original Prototype, which included test maps and updates to the credits. These discoveries were interpreted by some as possible signs of internal development activity tied to a remaster.

Despite these hints, no official announcement has been made regarding a new Prototype title or remastered release. Corden’s remarks suggest that, at least for now, the franchise remains inactive beyond potential legacy support on modern platforms.
