PS Plus Extra Adds The Rogue Prince of Persia as Surprise August 2025 Game

Sony has expanded the PlayStation Plus Extra catalog for August 2025 with an unannounced addition. The Rogue Prince of Persia, developed by Evil Empire and published by Ubisoft, has been shadow-dropped into the service, joining the lineup without prior notice. The game, a roguelike action platformer, was released in full on August 20, 2025, following its early access launch on PC in May 2024.

PlayStation confirmed the addition through its official channels, noting that subscribers can download the title immediately. The game’s download size is listed at approximately 1.1 GB on PlayStation 5, while the Xbox Series X/S version, also launching today via Xbox Game Pass, weighs in at around 1.63 GB.

In The Rogue Prince of Persia, players take on the role of a Prince who must redeem himself after a fatal mistake dooms his kingdom. The adventure combines fast-paced parkour, fluid acrobatics, and responsive combat with roguelike progression. Each run offers new opportunities, with over 100 weapons and medallions available to adapt to different playstyles. Procedurally generated levels, narrative shifts, and difficulty modifiers ensure that no two runs are alike.

Originally launched in early access, the game has since been refined with expanded content, new areas, and combat mechanics that build upon Evil Empire’s experience with Dead Cells. Its surprise inclusion in PS Plus Extra gives PlayStation subscribers immediate access, while Xbox Game Pass subscribers can also dive into the title starting today.
