PS5 Pro Is Out In The Wild, First Unboxing Video Posted

by Ali Haider

The upcoming PS5 Pro has made its first unofficial appearance, as an early unboxing video has surfaced, showcasing what buyers can expect from the retail packaging. Although Sony’s embargo restricts official reviews and impressions until November 6, with unboxing videos allowed on November 4, a German retailer appears to have obtained the console in advance and shared an unboxing video on Instagram.

This video not only displays the console itself but also confirms the inclusion of a USB-C cable within the box. You can check it out in action below.

The console features a sleek design similar to the PS5 Slim but with some subtle modifications. It does not include a disc drive, so players who prefer physical games will need to purchase the disc add-on for the PS5 Pro.

While the video provides a preliminary look at the console’s exterior and packaging, no detailed teardown of the PS5 Pro has emerged yet, leaving questions about its internal modifications. Fans are particularly interested in potential changes to components such as cooling mechanisms, system-on-chip (SoC) architecture, WiFi modules, and the heatsink design. Sony previously confirmed that faceplates designed for the original PS5 won’t fit the PS5 Pro, so existing owners will need to wait for compatible faceplates or seek refunds.

The PS5 Pro introduces a significant boost in GPU power, which is expected to enhance graphics performance. However, its CPU sees only a minor increase in clock speed, focusing the upgrade more on graphical enhancements than processing speed. Another major improvement is the increase in internal storage, with the PS5 Pro offering 2 TB of SSD storage—double the capacity of the base PS5 and PS5 Slim.

Priced at $699.99, the PlayStation 5 Pro will be available worldwide on November 7, offering a premium option for players seeking enhanced performance. Developers have continued to release patches that add PS5 Pro support with more than 80 games confirmed to support the console at launch.
