Some PS5 Pro Users Are Reporting Issues With The Console’s Thermals, Noise & Network Connectivity

Some owners of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s recently launched mid-gen console, the PS5 Pro, are reporting issues with the console’s thermals, noise, and network connectivity.

The PS5 Pro was launched on November 7, 2024, and some owners have been taking to forums and social media to talk about issues they are facing with the console’s thermals, noise, and network connectivity. One user mentioned that they had returned their first PS5 Pro due to its high fan noise. The fan installed in the latter was manufactured by Foxconn. The second console they bought came with a fan manufactured by Delta. According to them, neither fan is quiet, though they claimed that the Delta fan has a nicer tone compared to the Foxconn fan.

PS5 Pro Delta vs Foxconn Fan Noise Test

Another owner of a pair of PS5 Pros that come with cooling fans from the two different manufacturers conducted a comparison of the fan noise between the two. The results can be seen in the video below.

As per the above user, the Foxconn fan sounds better as all they heard is movement of air, while the Delta fan has some additional metallic noise to it. That said, they did note that this odd sound could just be an issue with their particular fan unit. According to them, from a regular viewing distance and with sound on, it would be unlikely to tell the difference between the two.

Another PS5 Pro user stated that they had returned two of their three noisy PS5 Pros, and that the service team had informed them about numerous returns of the console in the past week due to noise related issues.

In addition, some people are also reporting cases of coil whine, operating temperature and apparent network connectivity issues. Regarding the latter, one user noticed 10 second pauses when traversing the Welcome Hub menu on first start up around 50 percent of the time.  Others have reported significantly slower download speeds on their PS5 Pro compared to the base PS5 over both a wired and Wi-Fi connection. It is speculated that this is likely due to an issue with the console’s firmware/system software.
