Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart May Soon Be Headed To PS Plus Extra And Premium

It appears that Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart will soon be making its way to the new PlayStation Plus subscription plans, namely PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium. It is one of the 3 major first-party exclusives released for the PS5 thus far, with the other two being Returnal and the Demon’s Souls remake.

According to a promotional image in the revamped PS Plus section on the PS5 PlayStation store page, Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart will be making its way to the new PS Plus subscriptions soon. As to when exactly that’s going to happen remains unknown as of writing.

The other two major PS5 exclusives i.e. Returnal and Demon’s Souls, are already available on PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium. Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart remains the only PlayStation 5-only title that has yet to arrive on the service. If this promotional image is to be believed, this will be changing soon, as the game gets included in the library of 400+ PS Plus Extra and Premium games.

Rift Apart’s gameplay is similar to that of the 2016 remake of the original Ratchet & Clank as well as prior games in the same series. Strafing, gunplay, bolt collecting, automatic health and weapon upgrades, Raritanium weapon upgrades, and gadgets are among the features that have been carried over from prior Ratchet & Clank games. Ratchet is the primary playable character. He is joined by Clank, his robotic companion and sidekick, who is suspended from his back. Rivet,a female Lombax, is featured as a brand new playable character. Players shuffles between Ratchet and Rivet in different levels as they travel across various landscapes, while taking out foes with a variety of different weapons/gadgets and navigating obstacles.

The game introduces a new mechanic that involves real-time near instantaneous travel between different areas, planets and other worlds within gameplay sections via a system of inter-dimensional portals. Ratchet and Rivet’s new “Rift Tether” functionality, which pulls them from one side of a portal to the other and enables them to move quickly from one spot to another, takes advantage of the PS5’s fast I/O hardware features by seamlessly loading new areas near instantaneously.
