The final step in the recently discovered Easter egg mystery in Rockstar Games’ open world action-adventure game, Red Dead Redemption 2, has been found.

A major Red Dead Redemption 2 Easter egg mystery, recently uncovered by the community and documented in detail by content creator Strange Man (via SynthPotato on Twitter/X), has now reached what appears to be its final step. While not all answers are clear yet, the latest discovery suggests that Rockstar Games had originally intended for this to be an elaborate, multi-layered puzzle at some point in development.

The investigation began with the discovery of a strange spider-like symbol etched onto a telegraph pole. When this symbol was overlaid onto the in-game map, it aligned with a specific network of telegraph poles spread across the world. Each of these poles featured a spider web that only appears at a precise time. Following the center point of this spider pattern led players to a tree marked by a massive spider web. On the web was the reference to a telegraph pole, pushing the investigation toward the north. Shooting the indicated pole revealed a hidden message, directing players several poles westward. That trail produced another message, which ultimately pointed northwest toward a guitar.

The aforementioned clue led the community to Fort Wallace, where a guitar can be found inside one of the guard towers. On the roof tiles near this location, players discovered a symbol depicting two birds pointing northeast. This paved the way toward the discovery of the final step.

Heading northeast from Fort Wallace, players were able to follow birds in the environment to a location already associated with a much older Easter egg. Standing in the correct spot and observing a distant mountain through binoculars reveals a massive question mark carved into the mountain itself, as seen in the above screenshot.

This question mark exists out of bounds, making it inaccessible without the use of mods. As a result, its true purpose remains unknown for now. However, its deliberate placement, combined with the complexity of the steps required to uncover it, indicates that Rockstar Games originally intended this to be a major, Easter egg at some point in development.
