The previously reported figure for the game was approximately 7.6 million, indicating that Resident Evil 4 Remake continues to perform well, now achieving over 8 million sales across PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC. The game has proven to be a remarkable success for Capcom, currently outpacing other titles in the franchise. Released in March 2023, it is on track to surpass the Resident Evil 3 Remake, which stands at 9 million copies sold, in just under two years.
Here are the cumulative sales figures of the best-selling Resident Evil games according to data provided by Capcom:
- Resident Evil 2 Remake: 14.2 million
- Resident Evil 7: Biohazard: 13.7 million
- Resident Evil Village: 10.1 million
- Resident Evil 5: 9.2 million
- Resident Evil 6: 9.2 million
- Resident Evil 3 Remake: 9 million
- Resident Evil 4 Remake: 8 million
Additionally, Resident Evil 4 Remake released a PSVR 2 update post-launch, similar to Resident Evil Village, while Resident Evil 7: Biohazard was originally launched with PSVR support.
There are rumors that Capcom is developing remakes of Resident Evil Code: Veronica and Resident Evil Zero, the only two titles in the franchise that have not yet received proper remakes. Furthermore, reports suggest that Capcom is also working on a new entry in the series, tentatively titled Resident Evil 9, although this has not been officially announced.
Resident Evil is one of the best-selling franchises for Capcom along with Monster Hunter. Both of these games are released on multiple platforms with Monster Hunter Wilds being the newest entry in their franchise to launch early next year.
