Concept art from the scrapped Resident Evil 6.5 can be seen below.
Golem stated that this was a scrapped version of Resident Evil 7 that played similar to Resident Evil 6, but featured Leon and Sherry in a fictional European city that was loosely inspired by Venice, Italy. According to him, it featured choice-based events, where time slowed down and the player would have a certain period of time to make a decision. These segments were said to have been inspired from Telltale’s games.
A polished 30-60 minute vertical slice of the canceled game was developed in late 2012 to late 2013, as per Golem. However, he stated that it eventually got scrapped in favor of the idea to return to the series roots with the version of Resident Evil 7 that saw the light of day. The artist in question has worked on every Resident Evil game since Resident Evil 4. They also has some artwork from a Resident Evil 3.5 as well as Resident Evil Village on their art blog.
