Physical copies of Capcom’s latest survival horror game, Resident Evil Requiem, are currently sold out across almost all major retailers in the US.
Less than two days before the launch of Resident Evil Requiem, physical copies of the game are currently sold out (via shinobi602 on Twitter/X) at nearly all major retailers in the US. This includes Walmart, GameStop, and Amazon.
The current situation with Resident Evil Requiem physical copies being sold out for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 is an early indication that the game is selling very well across all platforms. This doesn’t come as particularly surprising, as Circana Senior Director and Video Game Industry Advisor Mat Piscatella had recently revealed that, when looking at upcoming releases for the US market, Resident Evil Requiem sat just behind GTA VI in terms of purchase intent, anticipation and engagement. “Right now, in terms of upcoming releases, Resident Evil Requiem is number two,” he said. “Our data supports that as well, that this is just a very highly anticipated game.”
Piscatella pointed to Resident Evil Village and recent remakes as the reason behind the franchise’s improved brand momentum. “The brand strength has definitely been improving,” he said, but still added that Requiem is performing “a little bit stronger than I had anticipated.” High purchase intent typically translates into a larger day-one audience, and it shows with physical copies being sold out across almost all major retailers.
Resident Evil Requiem is also one of the most wishlisted games on Steam, with Capcom confirming that the title surpassed five million wishlists earlier this month. The update was shared directly by the official Resident Evil Twitter/X account. “Thank you for over 5 million wishlists for Resident Evil Requiem. 3 weeks remaining,” the post read.
Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled for a global launch on February 27, 2026. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Windows PC.
