Rockstar Games may be preparing to release its open world action adventure game, Red Dead Redemption 1, on PC.

Twitter/X user TezFunz2, who is known for sharing the latest happenings in relation to Rockstar Games’ titles, has shared that the source file for the developer’s launcher site was recently updated, and it now contains strings that hint at the future release of the remastered version of Red Dead Redemption 1 on PC.

The Twitter/X user pointed out that Rockstar Games is known to add such strings of text to its launcher’s source file for the purpose of upcoming marketing campaigns, as it did in the past for GTA V.

The aforementioned string of text shared by Tez2 can be seen below:

“RDR_ProductPromotion_Intro_Body” : “Journey across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico in Red Dead Redemption, and its zombie-horror companion, Undead Nightmare now playable on PC.”, “RDR_ProductPromotion_Intro_LongTitle” : Experience the epic Western adventures that defined a generation.”,”

Recently, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked about the lack of a PC release, to which he responded by saying that he left game release announcements up to the developers. Additionally, on the subject of doing ports/remasters/remakes, he said, “It depends on the vision that the creative teams have for a title, and in the absence of having a powerful vision, for something that we would do with a title, we might bring it in its original form, we’ve done that, and in certain instances we might remaster or remake, so it really depends on the title and how the label feels about it, the platform, and what we think the opportunity is for consumers.”

Red Dead Redemption is a 2010 action-adventure game developed by Rockstar San Diego and published by Rockstar Games. It was originally released for PS3 and Xbox 360, and a remastered version was made available in 2023 for PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
