Speculation surrounding a potential Persona 4 remake has intensified following the discovery of a newly registered web domain. Twitter/X user Faz (@ScrambledFaz) pointed out that the domain p4re.jp was recently registered, mirroring the pattern observed with Persona 3 Reload. Two years ago, p3re.jp was registered, and three months later, Atlus officially announced the Persona 3 remake. This similarity has led many fans to believe that a Persona 4 remake may be on the horizon.
Adding to the speculation, Persona 4 vocalist Shihoko Hirata recently revealed that she has been recording a theme song for an unannounced game. She shared an Instagram post from MIT Studio in Tokyo, a location known for recording Persona soundtracks, including Persona 5 Strikers. Fans also noticed that she liked comments referencing Persona 4, hinting that her work could be connected to the rumored remake. She described the recording process as challenging, expressing nervousness about the performance but maintaining a positive outlook.
Further reinforcing the rumor, a known Persona and Sega leaker, Head on the Block (formerly Im A Hero Too), previously claimed that Persona 4 was set to receive a full remake, while Persona 2 would be remastered. Atlus has yet to make an official statement regarding these projects.
Originally released in 2008 for the PlayStation 2, Persona 4 is a role-playing game that follows a high school student who relocates to a rural town, only to become involved in solving a series of mysterious murders. Alongside a group of friends, he harnesses the power of Personas to uncover the truth behind these incidents.
If the announcement for a P4 Remake is forthcoming, it may happen during the upcoming Xbox Game Showcase scheduled for June. This annual event features announcements for both first-party and third-party games from Xbox. In the past, they have revealed major titles from Atlus and Sega, including Metaphor ReFantazio and Persona 3 Reload. Therefore, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them unveil the Persona 4 Remake as well.
