Xbox Game Studios and Ninja Theory’s action adventure game, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, is now playable in VR courtesy of a PC mod.
VR modding group Flat2VR has released a VR mod for the PC version of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. The team has done an impressive job, considering how the game was launched just a day ago on May 21, 2024. Given the game’s graphically demanding nature, the PC mod is only a viable option for those with high-end systems. Flat2VR has stated that those who have a beefy PC with a GPU in the ballpark of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 will get to experience “one of the best looking VR experiences” out there.
The modding group mentioned that Senua’s Sacrifice: Hellblade was updated with official VR support and helped show people just how well 3rd person games can work in VR. According to Flat2VR, Ninja Theory doesn’t have plans to add official VR support to Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. However, Praydog’s UEVR mod has made it possible to experience the game in full 6DOF VR in either first or third person camera perspectives. A video of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 running in VR can be seen below.
Those who purchased their copy of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 on the Xbox Store also own a copy of the game Windows Store. For those who are in possession of a high-end PC and a compatible virtual reality headset can give the cinematic experience a go in VR.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is one of the few recent titles to have launched without a day one patch. Kinda Funny Games recently interviewed Dom Matthews, the Studio Head at Ninja Theory, who mentioned that the game didn’t really need one. That said, the development team is open to the idea of post-launch updates.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 was developed using Unreal Engine 5 in collaboration with Epic Games.
