Details regarding the review embargo for Konami and Bloober Team’s upcoming remake of its classic survival horror game, Silent Hill 2, have been revealed.
The review embargo for the Silent Hill 2 remake is expected to be lifted in less than a week, on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 12 AM PT / 3 AM ET / 9 AM CET. This is four days ahead of the game’s launch on October 8, 2024. Fans can, therefore, look forward to hearing what critics have to say about James Sunderland’s journey through the mysterious town of Silent Hill in pursuit of answers regarding his deceased wife, Mary.
Additionally, the pre-load for the Silent Hill 2 remake is expected to go live on the PlayStation Store on October 4, 2024, two days prior to the launch of its Deluxe Edition on October 6, 2024. It will come with the latest update pre-installed for those who pre-ordered a digital copy of the game, though a day one update may be rolled out closer to launch on October 8, 2024. Meanwhile, those who purchased a physical copy of the game will need to download the day one update. Meanwhile, the download size for the Silent Hill 2 remake has yet to be revealed, though it will require 50 GB of available storage on PC. As such, the download size is expected to be around the same.
Previously, the Creative Director and Lead Designer at Bloober Team, Mateusz Lenart, had revealed that the first playthrough of the Silent Hill 2 remake will take around 16 to 18 hours on average without delving into any of the side content. For the sake of comparison, the original title has a length of around 8 hours on average. As for game completionists, Lenart mentioned that those who like to spend their time searching for everything that the development team has put into the game and things it has hidden for players, a playthrough will take more than 20 hours. He further clarified that he isn’t taking the New Game Plus and all the different endings into account with this time duration.
