Square Enix Is Evaluating Options & Will Have Something To Share On Final Fantasy XVI DLC

Square Enix is currently thinking about its options moving forward and will have something to share on plans for Final Fantasy XVI DLC in the near future.

Speaking during an interview with GamerBraves on the subject of DLC, Final Fantasy XVI Producer Naoki Yosihda stated that him and the development team wanted to deliver a complete story; something that players can enjoy from beginning to end, without the need for any DLC. He felt that his team was able to accomplish this goal with Final Fantasy XVI.

However, Yoshida mentioned that the development team has been getting feedback from fans who have played through the game, and a lot of them are interested in seeing more of the game, and that he fully understands this. Therefore, the studio is currently evaluating its options with regards to DLC, and he is hopeful that he will have something to share in this regard in the near future.

Previously, the official Final Fantasy XVI Twitter account had revealed that the game’s sales figure had crossed the 3 million units mark in the first week of its release. This means that the game has attained the highest first week sales out of all PS5 exclusives released to date, surpassing the likes of Demon’s Souls, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Returnal.

Square Enix clarified that this sales figure was based on Final Fantasy XVI copies physically shipped and digitally sold. However, given how retailers generally stock early copies in the ballpark of pre-orders, the physical copies can essentially be considered sold through.

Additionally, it was reported that some of the boss fights in Final Fantasy XVI have been causing PS5 consoles to overheat. Twitter user TheSphereHunter stated that she has been playing a certain PS5 game that hasn’t yet been released, where a boss fight made her console overheat to the point where it just turned off completely at the end of the fight.
