Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will soon be available for PS4 and Xbox One, and we’ve put together a screenshot comparison that showcases the differences.
The current-gen and PC versions of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launched to major performance issues. Things were improved over time, with the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions having ray tracing removed entirely from their Performance modes in order to more closely meet the target frame rate of 60 fps. Image quality is particularly problematic in both console versions, particularly when running in Performance mode. The PC version fares better visually, but more prominently suffers from streaming stutters commonly seen in Unreal Engine titles. With the PS4 and Xbox One versions being added to the mix next month, fans have expressed concern regarding their technical state, particularly in the realm of performance.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Xbox One X vs PC Comparison
A screenshot comparison between the Xbox One X and PC versions of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor can be seen below (via).
As seen above, there are notable graphical downgrades in the Xbox One X version of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The lighting is pared back, the geometric complexity and level of detail have been reduced, the texture work is a step down, and the foliage has been minimized to a considerable degree. That said, the Xbox Series X version of the game still looks great for what the hardware has to offer.
However, as mentioned earlier, a major concern with the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor still remains unknown. Performance issues with the current-gen and PC versions don’t leave us with much confidence regarding the previous-gen versions. It would be good to see the development team ensuring a mostly stable 30 fps. Whether the graphical downgrades seen in the screenshot comparison above are enough to accomplish this remains to be seen.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is set for release for PS4 and Xbox One on September 17, 2024.
