Star Wars: Outlaws developer Navid Khavari has revealed new details on the game’s story as well as gameplay.
Speaking during an interview, Navid Khavari, the narrative director of Star Wars: Outlaws, shared brand new information regarding the game’s story and gameplay.
Star Wars: Outlaws Story & Timeline
Khavari mentioned that Star Wars: Outlaws follows the Battle of Hoth at a time when The Empire is ruling the galaxy with an iron fist. He explained that he worked closely with Lucasfilm to finalize the game’s setting. Ultimately, Ubisoft developer Massive Entertainment and Lucasfilm settled on the the year between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
In terms of plot details, Khavari stated that the rebels are on the back foot, and while everyone is caught up and somewhat distracted by the ongoing civil unrest, there’s a vacuum that creates the perfect opportunity for the underworld to rise and gain power out of sight of Imperial rule.
Gameplay Details
Khavari revealed that Jabba the Hutt will be featured as a quest giver in Star Wars: Outlaws, with players having the choice of becoming another of his reliable foot soldiers or going renegade. He added that he looks forward to discovering other references to the wider Star Wars galaxy, suggesting that the game may feature other known faces.
Players can use quests with each of the syndicates to manage protagonist Kay Vess‘ reputation, which will impact the jobs they offer and the impact they’ll have throughout the story. Every player will have a different profile with each of the syndicates based on how they’ve interacted with them over the course of her journey. Kay will also have access to a ship, The Trailblazer, and they’ll be able to fly it into hyperspace.
Star Wars: Outlaws is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S sometime in 2024.
