Update 1.003 for Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment’s action adventure game, Star Wars Outlaws, is now live, and it makes the PS5 version run with worse visuals.
The third title update for Star Wars Outlaws is now available on all platforms. While many improvements and fixes have been implemented to improve the player experience, the update has also introduced a certain graphical issue in the PS5 version of the game.
Twitter/X user Riannon892 has reported that the PS5 version of Star Wars Outlaws exhibits a lot of screen tearing with update 1.003 installed. Other players have also corroborated the issue. Massive Entertainment has yet to acknowledge the problem, though it’s likely that the development team is already aware of it and is working on a hot fix.
Despite the screen tearing issue that has reared its ugly head after update 1.003 for Star Wars Outlaws on PS5, the patch does focus on enhancing gameplay flexibility, improving performance, and addressing several in-game issues. One of the major improvements includes giving players more freedom in missions like ‘False Flag,’ allowing for various approaches without fear of immediate failure. There have also been significant changes to NPC behavior, particularly in combat and speeder interactions, making the world feel more dynamic. Additionally, the update scales ‘Wanted’ difficulty based on the player’s progression, offering a more balanced challenge. Travel has also been improved with better speeder collision detection and increased auto-save opportunities in hostile environments.
In terms of general fixes, the update addresses several performance and stability issues, such as game crashes related to selecting ‘New Game’ and FPS drops. The user interface has been refined, and camera improvements have been implemented to enhance gameplay fluidity, particularly in interactions with vendors and during speeder travel. Audio and visual updates have also been made, improving the consistency of sound effects and textures in cinematics. Patch notes can be seen here.
