ConcernedApe has outlined ongoing fixes and upcoming patches for Stardew Valley following player reports of technical issues on Nintendo Switch and the newer Switch 2 edition. The developer confirmed that online co-op problems affecting both platforms have now been resolved, while other issues remain under investigation and will be addressed through additional updates.
In a message shared on December 26, ConcernedApe stated, “Online co op should be fixed now on switch 1 and 2. For other issues, we are investigating and will follow up with patches as needed.” This confirmation reassured players who had experienced connectivity problems shortly after the release of the Switch 2 edition.
Further clarification followed regarding a more serious crafting-related bug affecting the Switch 2 version specifically. According to ConcernedApe, a dedicated patch is in development to resolve the crafting issue and improve mouse controls, a feature newly introduced in the enhanced edition. The developer explained, “A patch to fix the crafting bug, and add improvements to the mouse controls on the NS2 edition of Stardew Valley is coming soon.” Due to the severity of the issue, the European release of the Switch 2 edition has been delayed until the patch is ready, as the bug can result in item loss during crafting.
Players currently accessing the Switch 2 version were also issued a warning about specific crafting recipes that may consume unintended items. ConcernedApe cautioned, “If you are playing on NS2 version right now, be aware that crafting any of the below recipes may cause unexpected items in your inventory to be consumed.” The developer advised players to empty their inventory except for required ingredients and to avoid using the workbench when crafting affected items.
The list of impacted recipes includes Blue Grass Starter, Heavy Furnace, Deluxe Worm Bin, Fish Smoker, Mushroom Log, Speed Gro, Treasure Totem, Statue Of Blessings, Deluxe Bait, Challenge Bait, and Moss Soup. Until the patch is deployed, players are encouraged to proceed carefully to avoid unintended losses.
Stardew Valley originally launched on Nintendo Switch on October 5, 2017, and later received the 1.6 update on November 4, 2024, bringing feature parity with PC. The Switch 2 Edition was released on December 25, 2025, introducing mouse support, expanded split screen, and larger online multiplayer. As of December 31, 2025, the franchise has surpassed 41 million units sold worldwide, with more than 8 million copies on the original Switch.
