The Steam Beta Client update for October 28 is now available on the Preview and Beta channels. The update addresses several issues with friend notifications, including alerts being dropped when multiple friends start playing games within a short period.
The update also fixes notification sounds and per-friend settings that were not working correctly with global preferences. Quick Access Menu responsiveness has been improved, while Desktop Mode receives a restyled Steam updater interface.

- Fixed an issue where friend joins a game notifications could be dropped when several friends started games within 10 seconds.
- Fixed an issue where the When a friend comes online and When a friend joins a game notification sounds did not respect the Show Notification Toasts and Play a sound when a notification toast is displayed settings.
- Fixed an issue where per-friend notification settings were ignored.
- Improved Quick Access Menu responsiveness.
- Fixed per-friend notifications so they correctly override global notification settings in all cases.
Desktop Mode
- Restyled the Steam updater user interface.
