Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster Reportedly Set For October Release

Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster is reportedly set for release sometime during the month of October, 2023, as per a game retailer.

According to an Australian game retailer, the Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster is scheduled to hit store shelves sometime in October, 2023. If true, the game would have released a little over a year since its official announcement back in 2022.

Suikoden 1 2 hd remaster

For the uninitiated, the Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars is an upcoming remastered compilation of the beloved games Suikoden and Suikoden II. Players can look forward to experiencing these titles on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam), and Xbox One. The HD remaster was officially announced during the Tokyo Game Show 2022 on September 16, 2022. This compilation marks the second time these two titles have been bundled together, with the previous release being Genso Suikoden I & II. However, the previous compilation only featured minor updates and remained exclusive to Japan.

The Suikoden I & II HD Remaster brings forth several enhancements to enhance the gameplay experience. All character portraits in Suikoden have been freshly drawn by Junko Kawano, adding new artworks to the game. Meanwhile, the portraits in Suikoden II remain the same but have been updated to high definition (HD). Both games feature updated backgrounds with increased details, particularly in Suikoden to better align with Suikoden II’s aesthetic. Additionally, the world maps have been completely redrawn in 3D. Battle backgrounds and spell effects have also been enhanced to provide a visually improved experience. The protagonist, Tir, from Suikoden now has a running animation, which was previously omitted in the earlier compilation that featured diagonal sprites.

Furthermore, the Suikoden I & II HD Remaster includes new high-quality sound effects for both exploration and battle modes. The translations for both games have also been revised to better align with the original Japanese content. Among the additional features, players can enjoy the ability to fast forward battles, an auto-save feature, a town minimap, and a conversation log, adding convenience and ease to the gameplay experience.
