The Callisto Protocol Review Embargo Details Revealed, Patch 1.02 Is Out
Patch 1.02 for The Callisto Protocol has been released, and details regarding the game’s review embargo have also been revealed.
Details regarding what The Callisto Protocol patch version 1.02 does are limited, though the review embargo date is now known. The update file was created on November 19, 2022, and it primarily improves the state of the game over the previous version 1.01.

The download size of the update has also been revealed, and it weighs in at 26.9 GB. This update will likely not be included with physical copies at launch. For those who pre-ordered a digital copy of The Callisto Protocol on PSN, Xbox Store, or Steam, the update should come pre-installed with the game.
The Callisto Protocol Review Embargo
The review embargo for The Callisto Protocol will be lifted on the game’s release day i.e. December 1, 2022, at 9 PM PST / December 2, 2022 at 6 AM CEST.
Previously, it was revealed that The Callisto Protocol has been banned in Japan due to concerns regarding violence, as developer Striking Distance Studios refuses to censor the game. The rating board in Japan, CERO, has banned The Callisto Protocol from release in the country over excessive violence. The developers are unwilling to compromise the experience that players are expecting, and, as a result, the game will not see the light of day in Japan.
The Callisto Protocol is a third-person narrative-driven survival horror game that takes place 300 years in the future and lets players take control of Jacob Lee, a prisoner who has been sent to the maximum-security Black Iron Prison on Jupiter’s moon Callisto. The player must fight their way to safety in order to escape Black Iron Prison as inmates start to mutate into monstrous creatures, all the while learning the sinister and unsettling secrets of Callisto.
