The Elder Scrolls VI could be officially titled The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel, according to a report from Windows Central’s Tom Warren in his Notepad newsletter. The report suggests Bethesda Softworks could reveal the game’s full name as soon as November 2026.
Bethesda first announced The Elder Scrolls VI with a brief teaser in 2018, but concrete details about the upcoming RPG have remained scarce. Full production reportedly gained momentum following the release of Starfield in 2023, with Bethesda shifting its development resources towards the next mainline Elder Scrolls game.
The game is being developed using an upgraded version of Bethesda’s Creation Engine. The studio has yet to announce an official release date or window, with current industry estimates pointing towards a possible launch in 2027 or 2028.
The Elder Scrolls franchise began with The Elder Scrolls: Arena in 1994 and has since become one of Bethesda’s best-known properties. Earlier entries, including Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim, helped establish the series through their expansive fantasy worlds, branching questlines, and emphasis on player freedom.
Skyrim remains the franchise’s biggest commercial success, having sold more than 60 million copies worldwide.
