Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is the latest game from Gearbox Software. It is available for PS5, Xbox Series X, and Series S and runs on Unreal Engine.
Borderlands 3 wasn’t released natively on the PS5 and Xbox Series X but it did get a free upgrade later for these consoles. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands uses the same engine as Borderlands 3, so it uses the same performance and resolution mode. So which console ends its race at the top?
According to an analysis by Digital Foundry, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands runs at a dynamic 4K and 60 FPS on the PS5 and Xbox Series X when using the resolution mode. It runs at a native 1080p at 120 FPS when using the performance mode. The game doesn’t offer any such modes on the Xbox Series S which appears to run at dynamic 1440p at 60 FPS.
The dynamic 4K resolution on PS5 and Xbox Series X can drop down to 1800p under taxing situations. Similarly, it runs at a dynamic 1440p on the Xbox Series S that can drop down to 960p under taxing situations.
If you were hoping to see any difference in the visuals, then there are essentially none between the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Xbox Series S does suffer from some visual drawbacks including in the quality of environment and textures.
If you want to play the game in split-screen mode, the 120 FPS performance mode plays out rather well and leads to a generally better average performance than the resolution mode. Overall, the game is excellent no matter which platform you play it on, with Xbox Series X gaining a slight edge due to the support of VRR which is coming to the PS5 in a later update.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is available now for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
