The rumored third entry in Respawn Entertainment’s first-person shooter series, Titanfall 3, reportedly does not exist, and the studio has canceled an extraction shooter spinoff set in Titanfall universe.
Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, who is known for his sources within the game industry, has shared that Titanfall director Steve Fukuda’s next project has been canceled, and that there is no Titanfall 3, as this and the major layoffs at Respawn Entertainment should make clear. He further said that both Apex Legends and EA Football Club missed their revenue targets by a large margin last year. He added that EA’s disappointment with Dragon Age: The Veilguard wasn’t even a factor compared to the setback from the aforementioned two games.

Furthermore, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier shared that Respawn Entertainment’s canceled project, code-named R7, was an extraction shooter set in the Titanfall universe, according to sources familiar with it. He added that the game was not close to being released, suggesting that it was likely early in development.
This isn’t the first we’ve heard of an extraction game based on Respawn Entertainment’s first-person shooter series. Earlier this month, known Apex Legends leaker Osvaldatore had claimed that Titanfall 3 would be a live service shooter with extraction being the main mode. It was also said that the game would feature seasonal content and battle passes. The insider further claimed that the unannounced first-person shooter would feature a single-player campaign. The game was allegedly being worked on in Unreal Engine 5. As per the leaker, Titanfall 3 would also offer additional game modes, including Team Death Match, Control, Arenas, and “all Titanfall 2 classic modes”. Additionally, the leaker had claimed that some of the characters featured in Apex Legends would also be making an appearance in the alleged sequel to Titanfall 2. The game was also said to include a real-time weather system.
