Ubisoft has updated its 2014 first-person shooter, Far Cry 4, to censor nudity and modify a certain female character model.
Update: Ubisoft has reached out to us and offered clarification on the matter, confirming that there are no plans to censor Far Cry 4. It turns out that the new update was rolled out due to an error. Files meant for the Japanese version, which included some region-specific censorship, were unintentionally uploaded to the global Steam build. The issue has since been resolved, and the correct version data is now live. The developer recommends restarting Steam and checking for updates in case anything still looks off.
Original Story: The update, which needs to be installed in order to continue playing Far Cry 4 online, comes over a decade after the game’s release in order to censor all of its nudity. Both male and female nudity have been censored, and some alterations have been made to a certain female character model now.

Far Cry 4 Nudity vs Censored Comparison
Screenshots comparing the censored character models before and after the patch can be seen below.
As seen above, any visible nudity involving Far Cry 4 protagonist, Ajay Ghale, has now been censored, as his attire now covers certain parts of his body that were previously visible. Similarly, a female NPC has received changes to her character model, and she is now seen wearing a bra rather than exhibiting upper-frontal nudity before the update.
None of the other prominent characters have received changes in Far Cry 4 via the new update. Yuma’s character model wears a jacket to begin with, so she didn’t require any censorship. Similarly, Kalinag’s character model remains unaffected by the censorship. Besides the censorship, the new Far Cry 4 update also added an installer for Ubisoft Connect and changed some functionality related to the launcher.
For the uninitiated, Far Cry 4 is the direct follow-up to 2012’s Far Cry 3, and the fourth mainline entry in the Far Cry series. The game is set in Kyrat, a fictional Himalayan nation, where the protagonist, Ajay Ghale, a young man of Kyrati-American descent, finds himself entangled in a civil war. This conflict pits the oppressive Royal Army, led by the authoritarian ruler Pagan Min, against the resistance group known as the Golden Path. Gameplay involves both intense combat and exploration of an expansive open world. Players face off against hostile forces and wild animals using a broad selection of weapons. The game incorporates role-playing elements, including a branching narrative and various side missions. Additional features include a map editor and support for both co-op and competitive multiplayer gameplay.
