Unverified Leak Claims New Details for Next Tomodachi Life

by Ali Haider

A Twitter account has surfaced claiming to share leaked information about the next Tomodachi Life game, prompting discussion across the fan community while also raising skepticism about the accuracy of the details. The account, which has been reposting and translating alleged leaks from Weibo, has not provided a verifiable original source, leading many fans to treat the information cautiously.

According to the claims, the new Tomodachi Life title is targeting a release window of April 2026. The leaker suggests that several familiar systems from the original game will return, though in some cases with altered pacing or structure. Apartments are said to still exist, but players may unlock them later in the game rather than having immediate access. Romance is also described as remaining central to the experience, including the presence of same sex relationships.

One notable claim suggests that while romantic relationships are still explicit, Nintendo may be avoiding terminology directly associated with marriage. The leaker also alleges a heavier focus on relationship drama, including gossip and island divisions, framed as a way to teach younger players about healthy and unhealthy relationships. Whether this tone would align with Nintendo’s traditional approach remains an open question.

Additional details point toward reduced randomness compared to the Nintendo 3DS entry, giving players more direct control over events. New social systems are also mentioned, such as the introduction of friend groups or cliques among Miis. As in the original game, two Miis having children is described as a technical ending that rolls credits, though alternate credits are reportedly tied to completing a secret event.

The claims further state that the player’s lookalike Mii serves as the island’s mayor, influencing in-game news broadcasts and a new beach volleyball tournament minigame. Miis are said to be strictly monogamous, with no affairs included, though breakups and moving on to new partners would still be possible.

The leaker also alleges that the game was originally planned for announcement last year but was delayed due to performance concerns and a decision to revert to older text-to-speech voices. References to Miitopia are also reportedly scattered throughout the game.

All of this information remains unconfirmed. Even the original poster sharing these details emphasized a heavy grain of salt, particularly since one claim suggested a trailer release before the end of 2025, which did not occur. Nintendo has not commented on these reports.

What is confirmed is that Tomodachi Life is officially returning as Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, announced during the March 2025 Nintendo Direct for a Autumn 2026 release on Nintendo Switch. Until more concrete information emerges, these alleged leaks remain speculation, albeit ones that have clearly captured community attention.
