Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has officially received a rating from the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), signaling that a release date announcement could be on the horizon. The game, which has faced multiple delays and a change in development teams, is currently slated to launch in the first half of 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The ESRB has assigned the game a Mature 17+ rating due to its depiction of blood and gore, intense violence, strong language, and suggestive themes. According to the rating summary, players will take control of two vampires who must regain their memories and powers to prevent an uprising. The first-person action RPG will feature a mix of melee combat, stealth tactics, and supernatural abilities such as telekinesis and possession to defeat enemies. The game will also include intense close-range combat, with players able to decapitate or impale foes in graphic detail.

Additionally, the game contains explicit dialogue, with references to sexual content and strong language. Environments will showcase dark and violent imagery, including decapitated corpses and bloodstains, reinforcing the mature themes of the World of Darkness setting.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is a sequel to the cult-classic Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines (2004) and is based on the tabletop role-playing game. The title was initially developed by Hardsuit Labs before The Chinese Room took over development in 2021. After a prolonged period of uncertainty, the ESRB rating suggests that the project is progressing toward completion, making an official release date reveal likely in the near future.
