Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Update 1.004 Brings New Content and Difficulty

by Ali Haider

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Patch 4.0 (PS5 update 1.004) introduces significant new content, including a new operation called Termination and the addition of a Lethal difficulty level for operations. Termination takes place on the planet Kadaku, where players face a fresh set of enemies, relying on artillery to defeat them. The new Lethal difficulty ups the challenge with limited ammo refills, enraged enemies, and armor restoration tied to staying near teammates. Overcoming this difficulty grants players exclusive cosmetic rewards. Additionally, photo mode has been added, enhancing the solo experience by allowing players to take in-game screenshots with characters’ eyes now tracking the camera.

Balancing tweaks target melee weapons, providing significant damage increases to charged attacks for chainsword, power fist, and combat knife perks. Some damage bonuses, like the Auspex Scan and Melta Charge, have been reduced in boss encounters. Enemy spawn patterns and the difficulty of operations have been re-tuned, especially following player feedback that the mode had become too easy after previous patches. The PvP aspect has also seen minor adjustments, while customization options for Chaos, AI behaviors, and several quality-of-life fixes round out this comprehensive update.
