Watch Dogs: Legion May Receive A Director’s Cut Featuring New Content

Ubisoft’s 2020 action-adventure game, Watch Dogs: Legion, may be set to receive a Director’s Cut version featuring brand new content.

During the latest episode of the Insider Gaming podcast, known insider and co-host Tom Henderson claimed that Ubisoft is working on a Director’s Cut of sorts of Watch Dogs: Legion. He added that the updated version of the game will feature new content, including a “fully night mode version” and new motion capture.

Henderson believes that releasing Director’s Cut versions of its existing library of titles is something Ubisoft is currently interested in pursuing, and it looks like Watch Dogs: Legion may be the first title to receive an improved re-release.

In an earlier podcast, the insider had claimed that, as far as he was aware at the time, the Watch Dogs IP was completely dead. However, in response, fellow insider shinobi602 took to the Reset Era forums to claim that this wasn’t exactly the case. He further clarified that he wasn’t referring to a movie based on the IP, suggesting that one or more games based on the series are in the pipeline. The Watch Dogs: Legion Director’s Cut Henderson now mentioned might just be it.

For the uninitiated, Watch Dogs: Legion is the follow-up to 2016’s Watch Dogs 2 and the third entry in the Watch Dogs franchise. The story takes place in a stylized, near-future version of London depicted as a dystopian society. It centers on the hacker collective DedSec, who are trying to prove their innocence after being blamed for a string of terrorist attacks. As they investigate those truly responsible, the group also works to free the city’s population from Albion, a powerful private military organization that has transformed London into a tightly controlled surveillance state in the aftermath of the bombings. The game launched on October 29, 2020, for PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One, and later became a launch title for both Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 in November of the same year.
