WB Games Montreal is currently working on a brand new AAA title set in the DC Comics Universe, based on a new job listing.
According to a job listing for the position of Senior Producer at WB Games Montreal, the studio is currently working on a new AAA game set within the DC Comics Universe. The job description was later edited to remove mention of the project’s involvement with the DC Comics Universe.
The job listing further states that the Senior Producer will oversee all phases and teams of development of a single project, from the concept phase through its release, suggesting that the game is fairly early in pre-production. Back in late 2022, another Senior Producer at WB Games Montreal, Bryan Theberge, had mentioned his involvement in the development of an unannounced project at the studio in his resume. While working on Gotham Knights, he was leading production groups from high-level mandates to the daily low-level objectives, such as dealing with roadblock issues, staff issues, production problem solving, recruitment, and pipelines.
Later in February, 2023, a job listing for the position of lead gameplay programmer at WB Games Montreal had stated that the studio was looking to expand the DC Comics Universe into the interactive space with a new game that is apparently being developed in Unreal Engine 5. Among the list of required knowledge and skills, knowledge of Unreal Engine 4 and 5 was mentioned as a plus for the candidate.
WB Games Montreal’s previous title, Gotham Knights, is an action role-playing game developed that was released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 21, 2022. The game focuses on the characters Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood, as they work to restore justice to Gotham City during a period of decline immediately following Batman’s death. It is inspired by the Batman: Gotham Knights comic series, which is based on the character and his supporting cast.
