The PS5 review build of 505 Games and Leenzee’s Soulslike action role-playing game, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, features a different English dub for select characters compared to its PC version.
Known modder Lance McDonald took to Twitter/X to bring an interesting finding regarding Leenzee’s new Soulslike action role-playing game to public attention. He shared a comparison video showing that the PS5 review version of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers features a different English dub for certain characters compared to the game’s PC version.
It turns out that the voice work of the PS5 Taoist sounds a lot more natural than that of the PC version. McDonald mentioned that he first noticed something off about voice overs for the Taoist in the PC version when he saw streamers play it. He termed it as “all sick and frail” sounding.
As for Japanese voice overs being missing from the European console versions of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, he clarified that this has also been the case with other games such as Stellar blade. The Japanese version is usually required in order to get Japanese dubs.
Previously, it was revealed via a technical analysis of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers gameplay that the Xbox Series S version exhibits the lowest rendering resolutions seen so far on the console. In Quality Mode, the game is upscaled to 900p, but internally renders around 300p, resulting in visibly soft image quality. Balanced Mode bumps the internal resolution slightly to 360p, which is then upscaled to 900p. Performance Mode fares better, with internal rendering resolutions between 504p and 360p, which is upscaled to 1260p. On the other hand, unsurprisingly, the PS5 Pro’s Performance Mode offers the best image quality out of all consoles.
