Microsoft concluded its Tokyo Game Show 2025 broadcast with a wide slate of announcements, led by confirmation that Forza Horizon 6 will be set in Japan when it launches in 2026. The showcase featured updates from Xbox Game Studios as well as a number of third-party developers across Asia and beyond.
The announcement of Forza Horizon 6 closed the presentation with a teaser highlighting Japan’s landscapes, including Mount Fuji, cherry blossoms, and urban environments. The next entry in the racing series will arrive in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass, with a PlayStation 5 version confirmed to follow post-launch.
Another major first-party update came from Ninja Gaiden 4, developed by Team Ninja in collaboration with PlatinumGames. The developers outlined difficulty systems that dynamically adjust enemy placement and behavior, while also confirming new accessibility features such as hero mode and training options. The title is scheduled to release on October 21, 2025.
Microsoft also revealed that Microsoft Flight Simulator is receiving a Japan World Update, adding 23 photogrammetry areas, five handcrafted airports, and 67 points of interest across the country, including Osaka Castle and Fukuoka Tower. The update is available immediately for both Flight Simulator 2020 and Flight Simulator 2024. A new Local Legend aircraft, the NAMC YS-11, is also available for purchase.
The strategy title Age of Mythology: Retold will expand with the Heavenly Spear expansion on September 30, introducing a Japanese setting, a new campaign, and additional playable deities. Meanwhile, Bethesda used the event to highlight contributions from Japanese players in Fallout 76, showcasing community-made C.A.M.P. creations following recent updates.
From third-party publishers, Activision presented new multiplayer maps for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, including urban and rural Japan-inspired settings. The game is set to release on November 14, with beta testing beginning in early October. Capcom confirmed that Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection will launch on March 13, 2026, and announced that the first two Monster Hunter Stories titles will arrive on Xbox this November. Square Enix released Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Seven during the show, while Koei Tecmo confirmed a 2026 release for a remake of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly.
Other announcements included IO Interactive’s reveal of actress Gemma Chan joining 007 First Light, a Bruce Lee crossover mission for Hitman: World of Assassination, and a new installment in the Sudden Strike strategy series scheduled for 2026. Independent developers also contributed, with reveals for Hotel Barcelona, Winter Burrow, Terminull Brigade, and Mistfall Hunter.
Xbox confirmed that several of the announced titles, including Forza Horizon 6, Ninja Gaiden 4, and Winter Burrow, will be available via Game Pass at launch. The company emphasized continued support for the subscription service, which it stated already includes several of 2025’s highest-rated releases.
