The Xbox Store has begun blocking purchases for users with false account regions, based on the latest report.
Twitter/X user eXtas1stv has shared that, due to the recent blocking of purchases on the Xbox Store from false account regions, many users have contacted them, especially those who are from regions that do not have an official store. These users previously bought games from stores in other countries, such as Brazil or Turkey, and now they are left with blocked balances.
The Twitter/X user mentioned that they spent time thoroughly researching this issue to help resolve any concerns their followers may have regarding the use of codes and VPNs in regions like Brazil or Turkey. They added that many Xbox users from countries without the Xbox Store have expressed concern over the situation.
Microsoft has yet to address this new policy, which is likely affecting millions of Xbox users across the world. Those who don’t have an Xbox Store to begin with have no choice but to make an Xbox account for a different region. How the console maker will factor such users into its new policy remains to be seen. The company has likely implemented this in order to prevent users belonging to regions that sell games at higher prices on their local Xbox Stores from switching over to a region that sells them cheaper, such as Brazil or Turkey.
In other news related to Xbox, the same Twitter/X user had previously suggested that four Xbox exclusives will go multiplatform in the near future, and Windows Central’s Jez Corden believes one of them is Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Corden pointed out that Microsoft doesn’t own the Indiana Jones IP, and that Disney may have had a hand in the potential upcoming announcement of a PlayStation version.
